Heat Wave Tips

As the heat rises and the real feel temperature is in triple digits, here are some things that might be useful.
Avoid Heat Exhaustion
- If possible try to avoid activities (unless its a pool or a beach) and exercise from peak hours which are 11a.m to around 4 p.m.
- Make sure to stay hydrated
- If you do have to go out dress accordingly wear light colored clothing and loose. Also remember SPF nobody wants to be hot and have a sunburn.
For those who have furry friends like I do here are some key notes to follow.
Pets
- Always have water bowl filled for your furry friends.
- Walk them during the early mornings or late evening.
- On the topic of walking keep in mind if the temperature outside is 75 the asphalt is 125 if it is 87 it is 143. If you needed to bring your dog out invest in some shoes although it may be silly it will protect them from burning their paws.
- Lastly keep an eye out for heat stroke signs can be extreme panting, warm skin, collapsing and even vomiting.
With these tips I hope everyone stays safe and cool during any future heat waves we may face this summer.
